Tesco, Hilton Food Group and LINPAC Team Up To Maximise Recyclability Potential of Fresh Food Packaging

linpacblTesco Plc has partnered with key supplier, Hilton Food Group, and fresh food packaging manufacturer, LINPAC, to maximise the recyclability potential of its plastic fresh food packaging in support of the recycling industry.

The three companies have worked together to bring the lightweight LINPAC Rfresh® Elite plastic pack for meat and poultry to Tesco shelves. The unique pack is manufactured from in excess of 95 per cent food-safe recycled content, which is typically recovered from plastic (PET) water bottles from household waste.

Corbion announces details of share buyback program

corbionCorbion will execute a share buyback program of € 25 million in 2017. The share buyback program will be executed as from today, 18 April 2017, and will run to 31 December 2017 at the latest. The share buyback will not exceed 10% of the currently outstanding share capital, up to a maximum of € 25 million.

The maximum number of shares to be repurchased on any given day will not exceed 25% of the average daily trading volume on the regulated market on which purchases are made, calculated over the last 20 trading days before the date of repurchase.

RPC Group’s Katherine Fleet Wins FPA Rising Star Award

rpcKatherine Fleet, Sustainability Manager at the RPC Group, has won the inaugural Rising Star Award at the Food Service Packaging Association (FPA) Awards 2017. The award, which recognises a star of the future within the packaging industry, was presented to Katherine by celebrity guest Jo Caulfield at a ceremony at The Grand Hotel in Brighton.

The judging panel – made up of four members of the FPA board and Phil Chadwick, Editor of Packaging News – selected Katherine from an extensive list of nominees that included professionals in the first five years of their career from every link in the foodservice packaging supply chain.

New robot can pull ribs from pork bellies

dtiDMRI has developed a robot that can pull single ribs from pork bellies. It will eliminate some of the physically demanding work at slaughterhouses.

The Danish Meat Research Institute, DMRI, at the Danish Technological Institute has developed a robot that can automatically pull individual ribs from pork bellies. Slaughterhouses will now be able to automate a physically demanding task currently performed by slaughterhouse workers, who manually loosen the ribs from the pork belly before it is further processed for the Japanese and Korean markets.
