The World Angus 2017 is just around the corner, and this year it’s coming home

angusThe 2017 World Angus Forum will feature a two-day technical conference called ‘From consumption to conception’, aimed at really delving into the world of beef production, looking at current issues and trends as well as what the future might hold for the beef production industry. The Forum takes place from Friday 16th June to Sunday 2nd July and will see Aberdeen-Angus cattle breeders from all over the world gather to celebrate the breed that they are so passionate about.

This year, the Forum is returning to the original home of the Aberdeen-Angus breed for the first time in forty years, and will be hosted by the Aberdeen-Angus Cattle Society in the UK.

The two-day technical conference, ‘From consumption to conception’, will give attendees a great insight into the whole world of beef production, with a wide array of speakers covering topics ranging from the food industry and what the retailers want, to how data, genetics and genomics can help improve the consumer’s experience and how Aberdeen-Angus cattle can be beneficial to both human health and the environment.

Alongside the technical conference, the World Angus Forum for 2017 has a full itinerary over the course of the 16 days to educate, entertain and inspire the hundreds of global delegates coming from as far afield as South America, Africa and all over Europe. The forum will include national tours of England, Scotland and Ireland, taking in visits to notable Aberdeen-Angus herds with great importance both currently and historically for the Aberdeen-Angus breed.

The Forum also includes a Youth Competition, where teams of selected young members from all over the world will be pitched against each other to compete in livestock, agri-skills and social challenges, culminating in the grand finale at Netherton Farm, Perthshire on the final leg of the tour on 2nd July.

Alex Sanger, the President of the Aberdeen-Angus Cattle Society and the Chair of the World Angus Forum 2017 said:

‘The Forum presents us with a magnificent opportunity to bring breed enthusiasts together from all over the world, all with the same aim, to share our stories, skills and passion related to the world class Aberdeen-Angus breed.

‘We’re really excited about the future for the Aberdeen-Angus breed. The worldwide popularity and passion for the breed is ever expanding, and the World Angus Forum is only going to further augment that drive and desire for this great breed.’
