Essentia launches nutritional enhancement calculator on Stand 640, Food Matters Live, ExCel, London (21-23 November 2017)

essentiapngA Nutritional Enhancement Calculator that shows how to boost the nutritional profile of food and beverage products will be launched by ingredients specialist Essentia Protein Solutions on Stand 640 at Food Matters Live 2017. Using basic nutritional data, Essentia’s calculator informs manufacturers about what’s required to upgrade their food or drink product to a higher protein classification - according to Regulation (EC) No 1924/2006 - in terms of labelling as source of protein, high in protein or increased in protein.

This tool provides immediate answers and lets users select between a wide range of protein solutions. It calculates the additional amounts of clean label protein needed to meet these classifications.

And the system makes it easy to select the type of protein that’s the best and most cost-effective match for the product in question.

The new software is the latest innovation from Essentia Protein Solutions in response to a growing demand from the food industry for high protein products.

‘Protein enrichment of everyday food’ is the theme of Essentia’s stand this year, which features its nutritional protein range available as beef, chicken and pork powders.

Made from 100 per cent natural meat-based raw materials, they offer clean label solutions for a wide range of applications - from soups, sauces, meat snacks and ready meals, to protein bars, drinks and healthcare products for those seeking a nutritionally balanced diet.

On stand, Essentia’s ‘Tasting Bar’ gives visitors the chance to test typical applications which can be protein enriched by Essentia’s products - instant noodles, beef jerky, beef bone broth, salami sticks, and chocolate and coffee caramel protein drinks.

For food manufacturers looking to enrich protein levels in everyday products, or to meet nutritionally balanced requirements, Essentia Protein Solutions offers low carb powders that contain from 90 to 98 per cent of protein.

And the products are non-functional, which means their addition does not affect the finished product eating characteristics nor the taste.

Tom Cooke, Essentia’s Regional Director UK & Ireland, said: “Simply by adding our natural meat protein nutrition range, you can boost the protein content of your food product without any change to its integrity. And the convenience of protein powders means products are 100 per cent soluble.

“We want to inspire manufacturers with our taste test experience and discover the many uses of our meat based proteins, which are perfectly suited to the huge trend in healthy meat snacks.”

With over 40 years’ experience, Essentia Protein Solutions is the UK leader in animal proteins for the food industry.
